Academic

  • Teaching and faculty meetings are held in English – all programmes are offered in English and a few are also offered in Italian

  • Most undergraduate degrees are 3 years – except the law degree is 5 years and the World Bachelor of Business degree is 4 years.

  • Competition for places is intense – early application is advised, especially if financial aid or scholarships are required
  • Acceptance rate is currently 1 in 6 (2023)
  • Use Bocconi’s Online Admission Portal
  • Can list up to 4 undergraduate programmes in order of preference
  • International students can have 50-55% of the places available for courses in English
  • Selection is based on: 55% Selection test score (Bocconi test/ACT/SAT) + 45% third-last and second-last GPA + possible consideration of CV and motivation letter (5%)
  • 1457+ average SAT of admitted students (2022)
  • ACT average 32 – very few do ACT
  • Figures 35-40 on test starts to be competitive
  • IB / A level Maths is strongly recommended
  • Most competitive = International Economics and Management / International Economics and Finance
  • Admitted students get an unconditional offer
  • Predicted grades and reference letters are not considered
  • 3 selection sessions each year: Early session, Winter Session and Spring Session (only 5-10% of places usually remain for this round)

Finances

  • Merit scholarships are only for international students
  • After admission you can apply for a need-based award. This is a longer process and you need to submit financial documents. Answer arrives over the summer after all 3 rounds are finished

Accommodation

  • 8 university residence halls – around 2,000 students
  • All single rooms, some in shared apartments
  • 3 halls are on campus, but all are within walking distance
  • Aim to have international undergrad guaranteed housing – not quite there yet
